Privacy policy

A clear explanation of the information used by this website and NSE Path for iPhone, and the choices available to you.

Effective and last updated:

Study data stays on your device

Progress, saved questions, and notes are stored locally.

Apple handles purchases

The app checks your subscription access through Apple.

No in-app advertising

NSE Path has no advertising or third-party analytics SDK.

1. Who this policy covers

Jonathan Hatfield, the creator of Secure Layer by Jon ("we," "us," or "our"), operates jonathanhatfield.com and develops NSE Path. This policy describes the current website and the NSE Path iPhone app. Other apps or third-party services may provide their own privacy notices.

2. Information in NSE Path

Study progress and preferences

The app saves your selected study track, practice answers and results, active sessions, bookmarks, target exam dates, review schedules, lab checklists, and notes on your device. This information supports study sessions and progress tracking. NSE Path does not send this study history to a developer-operated server or synchronize it between devices.

Your device backups may include app data, depending on your Apple settings. Apple manages those backups. The app does not require a separate developer account or collect your contacts, precise location, photos, or microphone recordings. Read-aloud uses Apple's speech synthesis.

Subscriptions and payments

Apple processes in-app purchases. NSE Path uses Apple's StoreKit service to read verified purchase and subscription information, such as the product purchased and whether access is active, expired, or revoked. This enables Pro features and purchase restoration. We do not receive your payment card details from the app.

Information you choose to share

A question report can include the question ID, product version, question text, and feedback you enter. The system share sheet lets you choose where to send or save it; creating a report does not automatically send it to us. If you contact us or submit feedback, we receive the information you choose to provide, which may include your name, email address, screenshots, or diagnostic details. We use it to respond, investigate issues, and improve the app.

Apple diagnostics and TestFlight

The app includes no advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDK. Apple may separately provide app analytics or crash information according to your device settings and its services. During TestFlight testing, Apple provides beta usage and diagnostic information to the developer, and feedback you submit may include contact details, screenshots, and device information. See Apple's TestFlight information and Apple's privacy policy.

3. Visiting this website

Our hosting and delivery providers process technical request information, such as your IP address, browser type, requested page, and request time, to deliver pages, maintain security, and troubleshoot service problems.

Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which involves a request from your browser to Google. These privacy and support pages use system fonts. Interactive website tools may save preferences and work in your browser's local storage. You can remove that information by clearing site data in your browser; doing so may remove saved work.

Links to Apple, Fortinet, and other external websites take you to services governed by their own privacy policies. Opening a link shares the usual connection information with that destination.

4. How information is used and shared

We use information to provide the website and app, verify access to paid features, answer requests, correct content, diagnose problems, and protect the service. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Information may be handled by providers needed to deliver hosting, communications, and support; by Apple for its purchase, backup, and testing services; or by a destination you choose when sharing a report. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect rights, safety, or the security of the service. We do not upload your local study history to those providers through a developer-operated backend.

5. Retention, deletion, and your choices

  • Local study data: kept on your device until you reset or remove it. In NSE Path, open More → Reset study progress to clear saved study progress, sessions, bookmarks, and lab notes.
  • App removal and backups: deleting the app removes its local app data from that installation. Offloading an app can retain data. Backup copies are managed separately through your Apple settings.
  • Subscriptions: resetting data or deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Use your Apple subscription settings. Apple retains purchase records under its own policies.
  • Feedback and support: information you send is retained only as reasonably needed to handle the request, resolve related issues, maintain necessary records, or meet legal obligations. Information stored in Apple services is also subject to Apple's retention rules.
  • Website data: clear browser site data to remove locally saved settings and work. Hosting providers retain operational records according to their service and security requirements.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information we hold. For beta feedback or privacy requests, use TestFlight → NSE Path → Send Beta Feedback. A direct public contact method will be added to the support page before the public App Store release. We cannot access or remotely erase study data that exists only on your device.

6. Security and children

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information involved. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure. Please keep passwords, customer data, and other sensitive information out of feedback and screenshots.

NSE Path is a professional certification study tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, use the available contact method on the support page so it can be addressed.

7. Policy changes and contact

We may update this policy as the website or app changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated through this website or the app as appropriate.
